How to Spend Easter In Glastonbury

The old saying that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb may be a bit optimistic this year, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t tons of fun events on all over Avalon, for young and old.

Avalon Archaeology at the Avalon Marshes Centre is hosting a series of family-friendly events over the Easter break and is open on Easter Sunday. The Somerset Rural Life Museum is open as usual, and is currently showing a stunning photography exhibition called “Somerset Floods: Ten Years On,” by local photographer Matilda Temperley.

Glastonbury Abbey is open as usual, but please note its temporary entrance just past St. Dunstan’s car park, further down Magdalene Street on the way towards Butleigh Road. The Chalice Well is hosting a day of silence on Good Friday.

On Easter Sunday, To the Trees with Matt Witt is holding a special tree walk.

Tibetan Buddhist Master Zawa Tulku Rinpoche will be sharing his teachings on White Majushri and White Tara Empowerment in a special weekend event at the Avalon Room in the Glastonbury Experience.

The George & Pilgrims will be holding a Wee Magical Event on Saturday the 30th, featuring tarot readers and shamanic healing.

Easter treats can be found as always at Burns the Bread on the High Street, as well as the newly opened Finca Coffee on Magdalene Street. Finca also has outdoor seating which will be handy if the sun decides to grace us with her presence!

Michelin-rated Queen of Cups on Northload Street is debuting its revamped garden and will be offering lamb specials for Easter weekend.

The Middlewick is hosting a special Easter Sunday lunch (be sure to call to book) with breakfast as usual.

For the grown ups, The King Arthur has a full programme every night this weekend, and the Rifleman’s Arms has an all-ages Egg Sumo Basho! event on Sunday in support of Children’s World Charity.

Please note that the Glastonbury Information Centre will be closed on Easter Sunday, but will be open from 10am to 3pm throughout the rest of the Easter holidays.
